The backstory to winter skincare - Selling Tips

Our natural desire to keep cosy can exacerbate how the colder months change our skin. Kiri Yanchenko, founder at AMPERNA Active Probiotic Skincare shares Tips for talking Winter Skincare

Holistic Winter Skincare and Layering AMPERNA® Active Probiotic Skincare

Even before winter officially runs her icy fingers down our cheeks, many of us start to notice changes in our skin. “My skin gets a lot more dry as it goes into winter, I find I get really itchy ankles and a lower back if I don’t moisturise. It sort of feels all crawly and my face needs a little bit of extra love too,” says Kiri Yanchenko, AMPERNA® founder.

Whether it’s cracks in the creases of the fingers and heels, flaky skin on faces or sensitive skin flare-ups, every body responds differently to the change in season. Generally skin feels drier and more parched, like it’s constantly thirsty and needing refreshment. For your customers with eczema and other dry skin conditions winter can be particularly testing as the flare-ups tend to be more frequent.

The reason our skin changes so much during winter is not just about the change in weather, but the things that we do to keep ourselves comfortable during winter. Our natural desire to keep warm and cosy can really exacerbate how the colder months change our skin.

Here’s my smart tips to share with customers on how everybody can still enjoy the comfort of their warm cocoon while also looking after their skin’s moisture levels.

USE A HUMIDIFIER

Going cold turkey on the heaters and air conditioners may not be an option, but you can help your skin by using a humidifier.

REDUCE THE LENGTH AND TEMPERATURE OF BATHS AND SHOWERS

It can be tempting to take extra long, steamy showers in winter as we try to warm our bodies up. While this little indulgence is kind to the mind, it’s not good for the body. Soaking or standing in that hot water can remove the protective barrier from our skin, leading to dryness and that tight skin feeling.

INSIDE PROTECTION

Other winter skincare tips include: drinking more water more often, a diet rich in natural fats may help with skin dryness, so keep plenty of avocados, walnuts, sunflower seeds and sweet potatoes in your winter recipes plus keeping sunscreen at the top of your winter regime as well.

Layering AMPERNA® Active Probiotic Skincare will also help keep skin feeling comfortable. Lightweight Soothing+ Emulsion moisturiser, Pro+ Vitamin C Hyaluronic Serum and Probiotic+ DS Soothing Serum are Kiri’s recommendations for helping to keep skin balanced and hydrated during winter months.
