The type of recruitment business that we wanted didn’t exist, so we created it, say Oroszlany and Heaps. Both managing partners have worked in the beauty industry for more than 25 years. “We both have the benefit of having worked for some of the most recognised names in the beauty industry”, says Oroszlany. “We have also been hiring managers in our previous roles and understand the challenges that beauty companies face when employing new marketing and sales executives. There is a high staff turnover in the beauty industry, says Heaps. “We launched BeautyConnections Australia in June, but had been tracking the market for a while. On average, between 15 and 30 jobs in beauty marketing alone are advertised on sites such as Seek every month. The biggest number of positions are advertised in January/February and August/September”.
The challenge with online employment sites is that companies only access people who are looking for a job at that particular time, says Oroszlany. “BCA has a huge industry network to secure high-quality candidates. Beauty company executives are under pressure to secure the right talent quickly when a role in their team becomes vacant.
